Homemade Healthy Granola Recipe

This homemade healthy granola recipe is a mix of oats, wheat germ, cinnamon, dried fruit, and flaxseed. It creates healthy, crunchy clusters that are great as a cereal, mixed in yogurt, or just eaten straight.

Best Homemade Healthy Granola Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 16)
Time: Just Over an Hour

  • 4 cups rolled oats


  • 1 cup all bran or wheat germ


  • 1/2 cup brown sugar


  • 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds


  • 1/2 cup chopped cashews or walnuts


  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds


  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  • 1/2 teaspoons salt


  • 1/3 cup applesauce


  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup


  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • 1/2 cup water


  • 1/2 cup flax seed meal


  • Directions



    Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

    In a large bowl, add the oats, all bran, brown sugar, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, cinnamon and salt. Mix thoroughly.

    In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, honey, vanilla and water. Place in the microwave for 30 seconds. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and mix until everything is well coated.

    Spread granola evenly onto prepared baking dish. Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven or until toasted. Stir every 20 minutes. Remove from oven then stir in the flax seed meal. Allow to cool completely. Store this healthy granola in an airtight container.
